Video game makers are waiting it out. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. With Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii not coming out until nearly the end of the year…. video game companies will have to wait until next year to see a rebound in sales. At Activision, CEO Bobby Kotick says…

"Well you'll have all of the new hardware in the marketplace and you're likely to see second generation software that really takes advantage of the hardware. So, generally I would say it should be a pretty good year." You've had the top selling title, Call of Duty 2, on the Xbox 360. What are you following up with for that platform and the other platforms? "We have a big slate of new products, including a new Call of Duty. But we also have a new Tony Hawk, which we're very, very excited about. We have a new Marvel product called Ultimate Alliance that we're very excited about. So for this year, we have a really exciting lineup, a smaller lineup though, of products that hopefully will take advantage of the unique capabilities of the new hardware. And then next year we have Spider Man, we have Shrek, we have Transformers, we have a new X-Men, we have The B Movie with Jerry Seinfeld which is a DreamWorks feature animation release and it's a really, really strong slate of products."

Activision has been trying to expand its portfolio. It recently signed a deal with Mattel to distribute new video games based on Barbie…..and it acquired RedOctane….maker of the Guitar Hero video game franchise. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
