Making the Most of That Smart Phone

Making the most of that new smartphone. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. With new Treos, Blackberrys and Windows Mobile phones hitting the market, more consumers are carrying smart phones. Folks who work for big companies with IT departments often have an edge in making the most of those devices. For smaller companies…or individuals….a company called eAgency …has software tools… that can make smart phones…even smarter. CEO Bob Lotter…says Rover is aimed at the consumer market…

"What Rover does is it takes your favorite data device, either Pocket PC, or smart phone or the new Treos or Blackberrys and it extends the capability of those devices so that the contact manager, which is your phonebook, your email, calendar, tasks and notes are wirelessly synchronized in real time over the air as you use them. For example, if you add a contact to your phone, it is automatically updated to the Web application. Same thing for calendars and it works both ways."

And the neat thing is…unlike syncing with software on one PC…. you have access to your email, contacts and calendar…through the Web. The price is 9.95 a month. eAgency also offers a free personal version of Nice Office….an online tool for scheduling appointments and keeping track of contacts. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
