Bluetooth in a Digital Picture Frame

Techstination feature for Thursday, July 13, 2006

Bluetooth in a digital picture frame. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Parrot, a company that has specialized in hands free Bluetooth cell phone systems for cars, is branching out. It is using that same short range wireless technology in an LCD photo viewer....designed to display pictures from cell phones. Parrot president Ed Valdez....

"A lot of people take pictures via their camera phone. In fact last year there were over 300 million camera phones released out into the market which is about three times the number of digital cameras sold. What we found is that consumers wanted a way to free their pictures from their phone to a device that allows them to enjoy it. And we invented a easy to use photo from that allows them to take a snapshot from their camera and within less than a minute transfer that photo to a photo frame."

The frame can store as many as a hundred low resolution photos...and sells for about 260 dollars. It can also connect with digital cameras with Bluetooth capability. Parrot is also expanding into audio.....

We see like the recently announced Motorola Q phone the ability to store and use MP3 files. We released a new product called the Parrot Sound System which allows you to wirelessly enjoy your music from your iPod with a Bluetooth dongle, from the Q phone or other MP3 based players."

The Parrot Sound System will sell for about 430 dollars...arriving in September. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
