Techstination feature for Tuesday, July 18, 2006

Everyone wants in on the iPod craze. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. With Apple's iPods continuing to hold a better than 75 percent market share, the scramble to sell add on products to iPod owners continues. You can spend a lot or a little on cases, speakers and docking systems for homes and cars. Well known speaker companies like Bose, Klipsh, JBL and Altec Lansing all make products designed for iPods. British based Logic 3 has tried to carve out a niche with some lower priced accessories. Ed Carlson, president of Logic3 USA…says the new i-Station 3 will probably sell for about sixty dollars…

"The i-Station 3 is a very small, compact speaker system that you can put in a purse or a backpack. It has enough sound to fill a room like a dorm room, it's a great little, portable, light, speaker system."

That model is due out by the middle of next month. A model was twice the power, a subwoofer and a full function remote is due this fall. Also new… the I-Station Docking Station…which has perhaps one of the most unique features…

"Which is this LCD readout which you can read from across the room so that when you using the remote, you can actually stand across the room and see the songs as you flip through the songs."

The system, which sells for about a hundred eighty dollars, includes video outputs to you can watch video stored on your iPod…on a TV. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
