Navigation systems learn to multi-task. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Some new portable navigation systems can do more than just help you get from point A to point B. Garmin, which has a leading market share and makes GPS systems for vehicles of all types….from planes to boats to cars to motorcycles… is out with additions to its Nuvi line. It includes a world travel clock, converters for foreign currency and measurements….and an SD card slot for add on travel and language guides. Garmin's Ted Gartner….

"With a relationship with Fodor's Travel Guides, we've managed to pack 120 Fodor's travel books for 120 locations onto an SD card that you can load into that unit and it will not only tell you how to get to a particular restaurant or hotel or attraction, it will give you a review of that. So instead of just saying Joe's Fish Shack, it'll say at Joe's Fish Shack, you really need to try the fillet of sole. They've got a great patio, we suggest sitting out there and here's the price range that you can expect. It's everything that you'd read in a Fodor's Travel Guide."

You can also add your own MP3 music to the device along with photos….even Audible Book files. The price, about eight hundred dollars. You pay for all of that added capability. Garmin is facing lots of competition these days. There's Magellan, TomTom, Navman and lately Sony has entered the market as well. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
