Turning those digital pictures...into photo books. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. From summer vacation photos to baby pictures...chances are you've added lots of digital images to your PC over the last few months. One of the fun ways to show them off...is with a hard bound photo book. The are lots of Web sites that let you upload pictures and organize them into books. MyPublisher, Kodak's EasyShare Gallery, ShutterFly, Apple and others will let you order books at prices that typically start at about thirty dollars. But you can do it yourself...with a print at home kit. Epson's StoryTeller Photo Book Creator is one of the fairly simple solutions. Product manager Kara Aptor...

"The kit includes everything you need to transform your digital photos into a personalized glossy photobook, with everything you need in the kit to do this at home using your PC and your inkjet printer."

Epson sells three different sizes...ranging from 20 to 30 dollars. While the kit should work with any inkjet printer, not all are capable of printing the long cover sheet. About the ease of use, Aptor says...

"Once you actually download the software onto your PC, you basically select the photos you'd like to use. And drop those into the photo bin. And there's actually 60 different types of page layouts and 18 different cover layouts."

The results may not be quite as slick as what you'd get from one of the photobook printing sites. But doing it yourself is part of the fun. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
