The Godfather Returns

Techstination feature for Tuesday, October 10, 2006

The Godfather returns. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Everyone likes family games. But in the case…the family is named Corleone. Electronic Arts is out with The Godfather…..for the Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation Portable. It's an updated version of a title previously out for the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox. Game producer Joel Wade says fans of the movie…will feel right at home….

"We've taken the story of The Godfather, and put you in that world. So instead of telling just a linear story that you're used to in the book a the movie, we are actually putting you in the world and letting you rise up through the ranks of the Corleone family. Starting as a lowly outsider and finally working your way up ultimately to be Don, when the Corleones and Michael move to LasVegas."

The game features some familiar voices ..

"We brought back over twenty of the original characters from the book and movie. So we have the voices of Marlon Brando, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Abe Vigoda, all in it. But we also added a whole bunch of new tricks for the 360. You actually get to hire crew for the first time. So you can actually hire Corleone soldiers to work with you as you take over some of the more difficult missions."

If you're a fan of the movies…and have an Xbox 360…it may be a game you can't refuse. On store shelves…The Godfather is shooting it out with THQ's new game for the PlayStation 2….based on The Sopranos. The stores…will be mobbed. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
