Buying a Big Screen TV Isn't Easy

Buying a big screen TV isn't easy. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Prices have plummeted…so lots of people are buying those big new high definition TVs. But deciding which technology to buy …plasma, LCD, projection or projector….can be confusing to say the least. Panasonic is hoping to make it a bit less confusing….by offering what it calls its Concierge service to consumers. Director of customer satisfaction Rudy Vidal….

"As part of the open concierge, we're not pushing a particular technology. Our goal is to provide good service, good information, that people can make a good decision on. So we make both LCD product as well as plasma. So our position is that LCD at a lower screen size is a lot more apt to satisfy customers than in a larger size. So LCD has some issues with speed in terms of viewing material that is fast in speed, there is a lag as you know, there is a viewing angle issue."

The concierge service, you should note, was initially designed for buyers of Panasonic's large plasma screens. The open advice line can be reached at 888-777-7134…and is available through the end of the year. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
