Bluetooth Beyond Headsets

Techstination feature for Monday, April 30, 2007

Bluetooth beyond headsets. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. You see quite a few people walking around today with those unmistakable Bluetooth headsets clinging to their ears. The idea is to let you make and receive calls using a Bluetooth equipped mobile phone through a headset without wires. But the technology can do more. Parrot is out with devices designed to connect that music stored on a phone…with a Bluetooth Boombox. Company President Ed Valdez….

"The Parrot Boombox is a sleek, black matte finish rectangular stereo system, it's digital 2.1, that allows users, via their cell phone, their iPod with an adapter, or with their laptop and Bluetooth capabilities, to stream music with your cell phone wirelessly to the Boombox in full stereo."

Valdez says by next year about half the mobile phones sold will have music streaming capability. Parrot is also using the technology in digital photo frames. The latest of which is a seven inch model….

"What this gives the cell phone users is the opportunity to free the pictures from their camera phone. More pictures were taken via the camera phone last year than all of digital cameras combined. So this is a fun way to enjoy pictures in the moment."

The stylish leather surrounded frame, which automatically adjusts its brightness to the room light…sells for under 250 dollars. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
