"Our industry, I think, still hasn't figured out quite that it's an entertainment industry and that it's about relationships with artists and allowing gamers to form their relationships with favorite artists. Right now in our industry it's still the publishers that fund everything and therefore tend to take credit for the games. And more like they buy these guys up like software factories instead of trying to have relationships with them like the artists that they are."
Wilson is attracting some top creators…such as those who developed Halo…to create games Gamecock Media will publish. The first titles will be out later this year. And the branding will be different…
"We brand the artists that made the game on the front of the box so you can actually know who it was that made it rather than who the publisher was that funded it and put it out."
Part of the deal…is giving the game creators ownership of the intellectual property they create. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
