Navigating your way through GPS devices. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. From Tom Tom, to Garmin, Magellan, Navman and Pharos…there is heavy trafficking going on in the portable GPS business. And one of the newest players, Mio Technologies, has made a dent in the last year and a half with some of the most affordable devices on the market. Marketing director Eric Larsen…

"We're now introducing our Mio DigiWalker C220, and this is kind of straight forward GPS navigation device. It doesn't have an MP3 player, it doesn't have a video viewer, it's simply navigation. All the maps are stored on the included SD card and with this one, we're coming out at a retail price of 249.99. So we're trying to make sure we give them the most bang for the buck and just come out with a device that will get you where you're going."

On the street…the retail price is often under two hundred dollars. If you are looking for added features…the company has another new device…the C520…with a wide split screen and text to speech…

"The C520 is also a full blown media player so this is great when you're on a plane. Because of the wide screen display, you can watch Star Wars on this thing in the full 16 by 9 aspect ratio. You can plug in headphones. It's an MP3 player. It's a great photo viewer. There's a lot more to this device. When it's in the car, it behaves as a fantastic top of the line GPS. And if you just happen to have it in your briefcase on a road trip, you're just good to go."

The price, about 400 dollars. You can find more information at miogps.com. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
