Discounted Tickets on the Net

Techstination feature for Monday, June 18, 2007

Discounted tickets on the net. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Buying tickets online to concerts, shows, movies…you name it….has become pretty routine. There are giants such as Ticketmaster and Fandango in the business. Finding good deals on live performances isn't always so easy. A site called GoldstarEvents.com has been expanding to more and more cities in the U.S….and CEO Jim McCarthy says…

"For five years, we've been focused on the mission of getting people out to live entertainment more often by using the advantages that the Internet and email technology can apply to the live entertainment market. And we do that by allowing people to come to our Web site, sign up and tell us where they live and what kinds of things they like to do and we can help them participate more."

By making tickets more affordable…often half price. The site has more selection in some cities than in others. In New York, for instance, you'll have more luck finding tickets for off Broadway shows than for those that are on Broadway. About the ability of the site to offer discounts, McCarthy says…

"We work directly with the venues and producers of the content. Whether it's a sports team or a theatre or a comedy club, whoever they are. We have relationships with about two thousand venue and producer partners around the country."

Membership is free…and you can use the site to try to find discounts for cities you may be traveling to. You can find more information at goldstarevents.com. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
