"That includes an external shot with the camera pointed outwards away from the phone, or you can manipulate the camera inward so I can show you myself…or the person can show you where they are, their background and that kind of thing."
AT&T's Ellen Webner demonstrating Video Share…as best as we can on radio. The service only works on the company's 3G network…and on 4 handsets….which sell for as little as 25 dollars with a contract online. The service is priced at 4.99 for 25 minutes of Video Share per month…or 9.99 for 60 minutes. About the potential market, Webner says…
"Certainly consumers. The husband who is traveling can dial the wife's phone and they can see the son playing soccer for as long as they want to hold up the call and vice versa. If the wife is shopping at Home Depot for the husband and she's not really sure what screw driver he really wants, she can show him in the store."
AT&T's plan is to enable Video Share connections between mobile phones and computers. Eventually, two way mobile video conferencing may arrive in the U.S. as well. You can find more information at attvideoshare.com. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
