"We bought Voodoo to enter the segment, to get some of that Voodoo gaming DNA. You're now seeing that DNA move into the more mass market with the introduction of Blackbird. So I think the acquisition is working out very well. We still have some work to do to get those products into the international markets that is another attribute that we brought to the acquisition."
Now you can buy what HP calls high performance desktop computer for about eight hundred dollars. With the Blackbird...prices range from 25 hundred dollars up to 65 hundred. What do you get for that kind of money?
"Whatever you want. The beauty in the Voodoo line is that you're able to configure that product to the highest end that you want, be it graphics capability, processing capability, memory, water cooling. There are lots of technology attributes in there."
The VoodooPC line competes with Alienware...owned by HP's arch rival Dell. The Dedication edition of the Blackbird 002 goes on sale September 15th...in limited numbers. Models that you can custom configure will be available beginning October 1st. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
