The Launch of Halo 3

The launch of Halo 3. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Microsoft says it is the biggest debut ever for a video game or any other entertainment event. And the hope is…the game will propel sales of the company's Xbox 360 game console as well. Why all of the hype? Microsoft game studios head Shane Kim….

"We've already created an extremely loyal fan base. Halo nation touches all walks of life and includes hard core gamers and people down the street alike. So that is something we've got a tremendous foundation on which to build. We do a great job of continuing to feed the community with great new content, news and so forth so people stay invested. Today there's still 2 and a half million people who play Halo 2 on Xbox Live. So that just gives you some idea of the love and loyalty people have for the Halo franchise in general."

Kim says three years and tens of millions of dollars went into the creation of the game and the results show that. Among the new features…

"We now support four player cooperative play. Another great feature that we're very proud of is the saved films feature. Which basically is..think of it as instant replay."
