Better sound from a notebook PC. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. There are a few, but not too many notebook computers that include decent quality speakers and the power to play music or movies at sufficient volume to make them enjoyable. To Logitech, that spells opportunity. It's a leading maker of add on peripherals…speakers..mice…Web cams and the like. Among the latest additions…is the AudioHub. It's a powered bar that sits behind your notebook PC….and plugs into a USB port to deliver 15 watts of rich sound through its speakers and built in subwoofer. Product marketing director Tim Leehane…

"As we all know, notebooks are becoming more popular and one of the biggest problems with notebooks is their lack of good audio. So we started with trying to provide a really unique audio solution and then started solving other problems. Since we were plugged into the wall, there's no reason that we couldn't plug other things into us, into the speaker system, in order to solve some of these other issues notebook consumers have with all these accessories."

the system also serves as a three port USB hub. If you're using a Web cam in one of those ports…you can also make use of a built in stand for the camera….

"We added a little stand that you can attach to the device to hold your Web cam in place above the LCD monitor on your laptop. So you don't have to leave it connected to your laptop. You can just take your laptop away and your Web cam stays in place."

The price…about a hundred dollars. One thing missing…is an audio input jack to let the system to double duty . Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
