Turn Back the Clock on PC Crashes

Techstination feature for Tuesday, February 2, 1999

When your computer crashes, you can turn back the clock. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. The wonderful computer on your desk can make life so much easier, until something goes wrong. You don't know what you did. Maybe it was the last program you installed or you really didn't mean to hit that delete key. A new piece of software called GoBack from a company called Wild File can come to the rescue by saving crucial bits of information and letting you go back minutes, days or even weeks to make things work again. For example, says company president Eric Schneider....

"So notice, I'm zapping Windows. Just killing the whole thing. I'm not even going to the recycle bin. And these DLLs, these VXDs have been causing trouble and I don't know why we need them. So I as a good user here am going to delete them."

Enough to make anyone in tech support cringe.

"The question is how do I get out of this. I can't even get Windows to run anymore. It's all hosed up and corrupted. First thing that comes up now is GoBack, and it's asking are you in trouble. And that's the difference. Normally your PC comes up into Windows and goes through all this stuff. Now, the first thing is this simple message, are you in trouble?"

GoBack restores your system to working order almost automatically. It sells for under 70 dollars. You can find more information and a free trial version at goback.com
