Smarter Label Printer From Brother

Techstination feature for Wednesday, January 9, 2008

A smarter label printer from Brother. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Brother has been in the label printing business for years competing with Casio, Seiko and others. A new model…that connects to PCs through a USB port…is designed to make it easier, faster and smarter. Brother's Marie Le… ….

"It comes with a really fast print speed. So it comes with up to 68 labels per minute, which is a lot faster than the competition which is 55 labels per minute. The resolution is also improved. It's 300 by 600 DPI. It has a built in auto cutter, which makes it convenient…so when you print your label out, it cuts at the end of the label so you have a clean, professional finish. It also comes with easy drop in rolls. And the drop in rolls are fantastic because they're convenient to store, they're convenient to change…and also they're convenient because when you drop in the rolls, your software and your label printer work together to identify what size label you've got in there and then change the setting on your software so you bring up the right template. And that's great because you don't have to memorize what type of label is in the machine. It all does it automatically for you."

Everything from address labels to continuous rolls that are custom cut to the sizes you need. The price…about 99 dollars. You can find us on the Web with a full archive of reports at bootcamp.com. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
