Faster, Easier Wireless Networks Netgear Goal

Techstination feature for Monday, January 28, 2008

Faster, easier, wireless networks. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Getting your home wireless network to work reliably....can sometimes be a chore. Netgear is aiming to change that with a family of products it calls All Access Home. About the concept, CEO Patrick Lo says...

"We would like to make high speed, broadband Internet access to any content, to any data, from any corner of the house, as intuitive, as ubiquitous, as utilities such as power, such as water, such as heat in your house. So you don't have to worry about it. You don't have to care about which corner you are in."

Netgear is adding features like Push 'N' Connect security for wireless networks...allowing users to ensure network privacy without having to type in long codes. The products are also using the N standard for longer range connections...and says Lo...Netgear has worked to make them more affordable...

"The N technology is based on very expensive external antennas or amplifiers. With this Metamaterial antenna, it's all internal. The antenna matrix is printed on the circuit board and used to reduce the cost significantly. That's why we have been able to deliver such technology without additional cost."

The recommend street price is about 129 dollars. An added plus is the attention the company has paid to design. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
