The newest digital cameras on the market take great photographs that to most of us, look every bit as good as photos from traditional film. Yashica, a well known name in picture taking, is out with a cutting edge model appropriately called the Samurai...

Bill Heuer, president of Kyocera Optics, distributor of the Yashica line. If all that megapixel stuff is gobbledy-gook to you, all really need to know is the higher the megapixel number the sharper the image. Digital photography is growing rapidly...

"Over a third of the cameras being sold right now are digital in terms of dollars and the real breakthrough has been that digital is great for sharing images through email and databasing images. But now when you reach 2.1 megapixel cameras, you have cameras that have print output that's very comparable to what you get with photographic cameras."

The downside is digital cameras are still a lot more expensive, even though prices have been dropping. The Samurai has a different look and feel than most. It is shaped more like a thin camcorder with a strap on the side that you slide your hand through.

"So you have very steady optics."

Another great feature, a lithium ion battery that can snap over two hundred pictures without a re-charge.
