Creating a coffee table book of photos…at an affordable price. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. It seems like there are more and more options all the time ….for printing your own books in the digital age. All of the big photo printing services give you the option of creating photo album books. It may even be available at your local supermarket. A company called Blurb aims to add better design and creativity to the picture. And its prices are more than competitive. CEO Eileen Gittins…

"I'm a photographer and I was photographing fellow entrepreneurs during the dot com boom. And they would tell me their stories and I wanted to share all of this content with these folks. And my first instinct was to do a Web site, but then I thought …no it's like a yearbook. And then I thought…duh…it's a book. So I went online expecting to find a company like Blurb, this was back in 2002. And I found some nascent photo album offerings. But I wanted a real book, not a photo album."

The site offers free bookmaking software for PCs and Macs…..and not only lets you create great looking photo books….it allows you to sell them to others through its online store. Pricing and size options help to set Blurb apart….

"Our books start at 12 dollars and 95 cents. So Fred, you too can be a globally published author with worldwide distribution, for the princely sum of 12 dollars and 95 cents. Seriously. And that's our smallest book. It's a 7 inch by 7 inch softcover book. And that would be up to 40 pages."

Coffee table book prices start at about 55 dollars. You can find more information at Blurb.com. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
