Buildings that move….and provide their own power. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Italian architect David Fisher has announced plans to construct residential and office towers in Dubai and Moscow…that are unlike any others. He is hoping to build in New York as well. Each floor in the eighty story towers will be capable of rotating independently…meaning the building's appearance is constantly changing. And wind turbines between the floors along with solar panels…will provide, according to Fisher, more energy than the occupants will consume…

"The dynamic architecture buildings are the first to be completely self powered. So we have wind energy, we have wind turbines. I thought we could put them horizontally between the floors. We have about two feet of space between one floor and another. So if I have an 80 floor tower, I could put 79 wind turbines. 79 wind turbines means a power station, a green power station, so we can supply the entire power required for the building and for some other buildings nearby."

Fisher says much of the construction will be pre-fabricated in Italy…helping to hold down costs. He estimates construction time will be reduced as well…with the first dynamic architecture buildings being completed in about two years. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
