More capability coming to Sony's PlayStation Portable. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. For most people, it's been viewed as simply a portable game playing machine. It is that....but....the PSP....can be a music player and portable digital photo frame...and has a growing list of other talents. Sony's Patrick Seybold....
"One of the amazing functionalities of the PSP is it's got a built in WiFi adaptor. So you can actually go and browse the Internet, you can grab Internet radio, you can actually use it for Skype, making phone calls from your PSP to another PSP or to a PC or to a land or cell phone line for that matter. But there's also a functionality called Remote Play, which connects the PSP to your PS3 back at your house. So if you're on the road like I am, quite a bit, here in New York, I can actually connect to my PS3 at home in San Francisco and have complete and total access to all of that content. From my photos on the hard drive, to my movies on the hard drive."
Movies and TV shows that can now be rented or purchased for the PlayStation 3....can be transferred to the PSP. And down the road...so to speak....
"Imagine taking your PSP out of your bag and you're watching a movie on a plane, you land in a foreign city and you're able to pop in a GPS UMD and actually get complete and total navigation directions any city you're in."
That add on is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. next year. There've been rumors about the potential for a hard drive version of the game player. All Sony says is...it is looking at all avenues. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred fishkin
