A fresh crop of Apple iPods. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. While competitors keep trying to chip away at Apple's dominance in the portable media player market....iPods remain the devices of choice. The new generation out this fall....will only frustrate the competition again. The iPod Touch....is even thinner....and now includes external volume control buttons....has the best interface you'll find on a media player...and is essentially an iPhone minus the phone. An 8 gigabyte model is priced at 229 dollars, a 16 gigabyte version is 70 dollars more. And there's a 32 gigabyte model for 399. As long as you're within range of WiFi....you can send and receive email....and connect wirelessly to iTunes and Apple's App store. The iPod Nano is now in its fourth generation....and features a curved elongated shape giving users a better screen for video. Apple is offering it in nine different colors....with prices starting at 140 dollars. Apple has added a new playlist Genius function to iTunes and the new iPods.....that works surprisingly well. Pick a song from your library....click the Genius button....and it will create a playlist of songs that fit well together. At the introduction in San Francisco...CEO Steve Jobs...sounded confident....
"We think we've got the best lineup we've ever had for this holiday season."
