New Video Game Follows Long and Winding Road

Techstination feature for Monday, November 10, 2008

It's been a long and winding road, but there will finally be a video game based on music from The Beatles. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. You still won't find their music on iTunes, but The Beatles ...with help from surviving band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr....will be featured in a video game being created by MTV and Harmonix....makers of the Rock Band titles. The game won't arrive until next year's holiday season. In the meantime....fans can polish up their guitar, drum and singing skills with Rock Band 2, which is going head to head this holiday season with Red Octane's Guitar Hero World Tour. John Drake ...one of the professional musicians whose day job is with Harmonix...says it's all about the music...

"Growing off of Rock Band one, there's now 84 master tracks, so probably the greatest set list ever compiled for a music game, including hits from AC DC, Bob Dylan, a premier song from Guns n Roses off their upcoming album Chinese Democracy. And then a span of hits from classic rock to modern hits. In addition to that we're offering probably the most online connectivity any music game's ever seen. We have new modes including an online world tour, which allows you to play in persistent campaign mode where you tour around the world with people. And we also now have a battle of the bands mode which lets your band take on bands from around the world."

Enough features to keep video game rock stars busy....until the arrival of The Beatles game next year. With a wireless instrument kit...the price is about 180 dollars. The software alone...is about 60. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
