The latest snowboarding video game...bears the name of Shaun White. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Olympic gold medalist Shaun White says when he agreed to put his name on a video game....he wanted it to be much more than a formality....he wanted to capture the sport and all that goes with it...
"Not only is fun to go snowboarding, hang out with your friends, but there's a whole kind of style of clothing and culture behind it. And you kind of capture that in the game where you start off the game and you're yourself. You've got to pick out the clothes you want to wear, you pick out your own board. You ride what you want to ride. You choose the runs you want to do. And in that, we made these seamless mountains, right. So you can literally just keep going left. And you keep finding newer and newer and newer terrain."
Shaun White Snowboarding is out for the PC, all of the consoles and handheld game machines....and the Wii version...allows players to use the Wii Balance Board as well....
"First off, I said no to doing the board because I was nervous about how it would respond. The first thing I did is I got on the board and I leaned forward, cause that's what I would do snowboarding, naturally, I'd lean forward to go faster. So in the game, the character tucks, you know what I mean."
As far as the game is concerned...he is still more used to playing with hand controllers. White has a busy competition schedule ahead...aiming to qualify for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
