Microsoft gives a whole new look...to the Xbox 360. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Microsoft Xbox 360....turns three this holiday season....and while it continues to lead Sony's PlayStation 3 in sales...Nintendo's Wii console is number one in the latest generation of game machines. Some may think Microsoft has taken a cue from Nintendo...with some aspects of the new look...that the company is calling the Xbox Experience. It uses avatars to represent user accounts on the machine...similar to the way Nintendo uses Mii characters. And beyond that, spokesman David Dennis says....
"The biggest difference is really the visual appeal of it. Instead of a static list of games you might have saved on your console or that might be on Xbox Live, you'll actually see the visual box art that represents the game. Whether you're looking through your catalog of games that you already have or are looking to purchase a new game and download it over Xbox Live, you really see the visual appeal of the game there. The other thing is too, our Netflix partnership, where you'll be able to go to the video store and download and stream any movies that you have in your Netflix Instant Watch que onto your console. So if you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription and a Netflix subscription, this is something that will be free to you and available. You just go to the Netflix icon."
If you already have an Xbox 360...you'll need to have it connected to a broadband network to download the free update to the system for the new capabilities. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
