A Watch That Knows When It's Time to Fish?

Techstination feature for Monday, December 1, 2008

A watch that tells you when its time to go fishing. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Fishermen have used all kinds of technology over the years....from fish finder sonar gadgets. Now ...under the Field and Stream brand...there's a watch that claims to tell you....when it's the right time to drop what ever you're doing....and go fishing. EMC-2 Timespieces marketing director Erin Granda....

"Most fishing and hunting watches are pre-programmed to certain cities either in the United States or around the world. Our module, you can calculate the tides and the moon phases which creates the fishing favorability anywhere in the world. And you do that based on programming your longitude, latitude, where you are...which is Greenwich mean time, and the lunar tidal interval. And that will calculate anywhere in the world. That's what makes it different and unique from the other products on the market."

And then what will the watch tell you once you've done that?

"That tells you all of the tides, all of the moon phases, sunrise, sunset. And it calculates each day when the fish are most likely to feed. So it's the best time that you'll be able to catch a fish."

One of the biggest names in bass fishing...Jimmy Houston is lending his endorsement. Of course...there are those who will tell you that any time is the right time to go fishing. There is competition from Casio. You can find the Field and Stream F300FISH, for under seventy dollars. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
