An HD Pocket Camcorder From Kodak

Techstination feature for Thursday, December 11, 2008

An HD pocket camcorder...from Kodak. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Kodak may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of camcorders, but it is gearing up to compete with FlipVideo and others in the growing pocket camcorder business. It is out with the Zi6....and future product marketing manager Andrei Andrievsky says....

"It's an HD capture device, that is very simple, pocketable and fun to use. It's capturing an HD video stream at 30 frames a second and 60 frames a second and that makes us pretty different from other products on the market. You can easily upload your videos. You can watch them on a large, relatively speaking, 2.4 inch LCD. You can also connect your camera to an HD TV or regular TV. It runs on double A batteries."

Which can be an advantage over some competing cameras using a built in rechargeable battery...that can run out and bring video taking to an abrupt halt. Another advantage...is the use of high capacity SD cards for storage. You can find the Kodak Zi6...for under 160 dollars. Whether a pocket camcorder is a good idea depends on what you use for digital still photos. Many new models...including some from Kodak...can shoot HD video as well.
