More Megapixels for Your Money

Techstination feature for Tuesday, December 16, 2008

More megapixels for your money. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. More than ever, this holiday season it seems, people are spending their money more carefully. That doesn't always mean buying the cheapest products on the market. But it means they're paying more attention to what they're getting for the money. There are lots of good deals on digital cameras out there, but consumers should be wary of cameras that are too cheap...even if the features sound good. One of Samsung's newest digital cameras is the TL34HD....a shirt pocket sized model....that packs in the ability to shoot high definition video....and take 14.7 megapixel still photos. Consumer marketing director Stewart Henderson...

"It has a 28 millimeter wide angle lens. That's very convenient when you're shooting those holiday photos around the table. You're not having to ask your family to crunch together to get into the shot. It also has what we've kind of perfected, and this is the second generation for us, it's Smart Touch 2.0. Samsung pioneered the use of an L-shaped array of buttons around an LCD screen to make the user interface extremely intuitive. What we've done with this version...the 2.0 version ... is made it even more cool by adding touch screen capabilities."

You can find the TL34HD for under 220 dollars....impressive for a quality 14.7 megapixel camera. On the down side, the optical zoom is just 3.6X, and a docking station to connect it to a high definition TV...is sold separately. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
