Adding more storage to your home network. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Iomega...which became part of EMC this year....is tapping into EMC's enterprise know-how...in building its latest network drive for consumers. The StorCenter ix2....comes with up to two terabytes of hard drive space....for stashing away digital photos and video, music and more. Global product manager Marc Tanguay says one of the goals in designing the ix2...was to make network storage simple...

"It sets up with a four click software set up. You don't have to be an IT administrator or have any special network expertise to be able to set up and start working with the product. The set up process usually takes on average less than fifteen minutes. It works with both PC and Mac computers, which is one advantage over our competitors that have built network products that just work with one genre or another."

The network drive not only lets you share all of those digital files between PCs....it can also connect to video game consoles...and even some mobile phones...

"Well we can add in a USB adaptor and then you can, with your USB enabled cell phone, you can send over pictures, your contact information or files. You can also plug in an Axis security camera, the product automatically recognizes it. You can stream video from the camera."

The StorCenter ix2 with one terabyte of storage....is priced at under 300 dollars. Iomega has plenty of competition from Seagate, Western Digital and others. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
