Kids and digital cameras. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Digital cameras designed for children...as young as three...have been around for a while. But just as the quality of cameras has improved for mom and dad....some of the products out there for kids today can take some pretty respectable pictures and add some fun as well. Tim Hall is the founder and CEO of Digital Blue...which makes the Disney Pix Jr...

"The image quality is very strong, it's a very solid camera. There's a very exciting feature called photofriends. And it basically lets the child put a Disney character in the image as she's taking a picture. So she can frame the camera up against her mom or whoever she's taking a picture of and put Tinkerbell or any character from the Disney library in the photo and actually see it in her viewfinder."

The ruggedized camera sells for under fifty dollars. There is competition from Vtech and others. Digital Blue has also moved into the digital camera market for teenagers....offering the Snap line....with better resolution than the teens are likely to get from their mobile phones...

"Our top selling product is a five megapixel digital camera. It's got a very large view screen. And it takes obviously very high resolution pictures. It has digital zoom and a lot of the bells and whistles that you'd expect with a much more expensive camera."
