Guitar Hero in the backseat? Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. There are lots of DVD entertainment systems in family minivans and SUVs these days. Now Audiovox has formed a partnership with Sony to embed PlayStation 2 video game consoles....into their in vehicle entertainment systems. Audiovox CEO Patrick Lavelle...

"With the popularity of gaming, people want what they have in the home, they want to have that in the car. This is a Sony PlayStation 2 that's embedded into our overhead. It looks like a regular overhead except that it has the Sony PlayStation built right in. All the controllers are wireless, just like our existing mobile video product. So as far as the interfacing with the consumer, we have wireless headphones, so that none of the gaming will bother the driver."

Pricing, according to Lavelle, will most likely be between two and three hundred dollars. Audiovox has also announced a deal with Qualcomm's MediaFlo....to bring live TV onto those in vehicle screens as well...

"The demand today is for live content. And when you look at 90 percent of the drive time, it is around town."

Details have not been announced...but the TV service will require a subscription...with MediaFlo which currently provides services through mobile carriers like Verizon and AT&T. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
