Tax Prep & Social Networking?

Techstination feature for Thursday, March 19, 2009

Social networking comes to tax preparation. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. Intuit's TurboTax has been around for more than 25 years. In the beginning, it wasn't easy to find many people who were willing to trust their taxes to those new fangled machines. Today, it's routine. TurboTax offers everything from free versions for simple returns to editions that can handle both home and small business returns. VP Bob Meighan says the software has retained an interview format...with some improvements...

"We've completely revolutionized that interview process and in five simple questions we can now determine whether you need to itemize. "

What else is new? The addition of social networking... of a sort...called Live Community.. to the tax preparation process...

"Where you can actually ask questions of our TurboTax community. That would include customers as well as our own TurboTax experts. "
