Nintendo's Upcoming DSi

Techstination feature for Monday, March 23, 2009

Playing with pictures and music...in the palm of your hand. I'm Fred Fishkin with Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. No we aren't talking about the latest iPod from Apple. Nintendo is flipping the on switch...(sound) on the new DSi handheld game machine. It goes on sale in North America on April 5th for about 170 dollars. The addition of two cameras, sound recording capability and an SD memory card slot open the door to fun new applications. For instance, says Nintendo's Michael Chipman...

"This is truly the first interactive camera. And what I mean by that is, look, if I touch the stylus to the screen, I can adjust the image on the screen, so I'm stretching my face out here. Making my nose really large and big teeth. And I can quickly restore that, bring it back."

Or you can save the distortion?

"Yeah, that's where the fun comes in. So I can stretch this out and then capture a picture real quick."

Send it via WiFi or save it to the memory card. Manipulating sound and music are easy and fun as well. The higher price...about 40 dollars more than the DS Lite... is the only down side. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
