A dot Tel Instead of a Business Card?

Techstination feature for Friday, April 3, 2009

A Web site instead of a business card. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. It's a concept that's been in the formation stages for years. And now a company called Telnic is offering domain names for businesses and individuals that effectively serve as your instantly updatable business card. Communications Director Justin Hayward....

"Well we've created the .tel so it's really easy to use. You get a Web management console, which effectively enables you to put all types of contact information in there. Whether it's your telephone number or an email address. Or even a link to a Web site. You can put your contact information in, save it and it's instantly published to the Internet."

You can choose which friends or contacts have access to personal data through your site. The .tel domains are being sold by domain registry firms ...and can be as little as 12 dollars a year. You can find us at I'm Fred Fishkin.
