Internet Radio on Your Home Phone

Techstination feature for Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Internet radio on your home phone. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. It's one of the latest applications Verizon is making available for its Hub. The Verizon Hub is essentially a voice over IP...or Internet based phone....designed for use by Verizon Wireless subscribers. It costs about two hundred dollars with a two year contract...and then about 35 dollars a month for the phone service. What sets it apart from other voice over IP services...is the LCD screen on the phone base.....that can keep you up to date with news, weather, movie times....and says Verizon's Stella Alvo...all kinds of new applications...

"The newest application we have is called Internet Radio. And what we're finding is that people are moving around a lot. So the radio stations that we have here are for multiple locations. And this is streaming radio."

There are more apps to come...and says Verizon...new designs for the Hub as well. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
