Are LED light bulbs a brighter idea? I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. Lots of households over the last year or two....have been switching from incandescent light bults...to compact fluorescents to save money and energy. Now, LED bulbs are slowly making their way into the marketplace. And they are even more efficient. CCrane is among the online retailers selling them...and, says president Bob Crane....

"We're saving 87 percent over a common incandescent bulb and over 40 percent over a compact fluorescent bulb. And going forward that's going to change even more."

What may need to change to gain widespread consumer acceptance, is the price. CCrane's new GeoBulb...which uses just 7 and a half watts...costs about a hundred dollars...

"Once people understand how much money they actually save and it's proved to them that this is going to save them that amount of money, then I think they're going to go out and buy."
