Philips Lighting Head Says Bulbs May Disappear

Techstination feature for Friday, May 15, 2009

A better idea for lighting...may be no light bulb at all. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. The head of the world's biggest lighting company... Philips Lighting....says LEDs are going to change the way people think about light bulbs. In many cases...says Rudy Provoost...they won't be necessary at all....

"In your studio at home today where you have today your studio or reading light that today has a certain design, it's a certain shape and form and you have to replace the lamp on a regular basis. Imagine that product being an LED luminaire in which the light source is actually embedded in the new luminaire. Suddenly if you buy that new kind of product, you don't have to worry about the light source."

There are no bulbs to change ever..

Because of the long life span of the built in LEDs. You can find us on the Web at I'm Fred Fishkin.
