When it comes to health care, it is often hard for consumers to figure out what products are eligible under Flexible Spending Accounts, or which procedures might be covered by their insurance companies. Now a company called Canopy Financial, which has been working with some of the biggest health care and financial institutions...is out with a five dollar program for the iPod and iPod Touch...to help answer questions on the spot. "For example, there's an application on the phone which enables a consumer in a pharmacy to take a picture of a bar code of a product such as, for example, a flu medication. And it will tell them in real time whether or not such a medicine is an eligible expense out of their health savings account. That is, can they pay for it tax free."
