The science behind all of that movie magic. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. Audiences get to sit back and enjoy the results....but there's some very sophisticated science and technology being employed behind the scenes of all types of movies these days. The Science Channel has launched a new series hosted by Nar Williams...called The Science of Movies....and Williams calls it "nerd-vana"....
"The first book I ever remember checking out of the library as a kid was a making of Star Wars special effects book. And so I kind of just took it from there. I got kind of obsessed with it. My brothers and I made home movies and we were kind of obsessed with making these home-made dollies and special effects and of course, big batches of fake blood."
Williams has been writing a blog about this stuff too. The Science Channel program airs on Tuesdays. You can find us on the Web with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
