High Tech Help for Diagnosing Car Troubles

High tech help for diagnosing car troubles. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. It's a device designed to help everyday consumers find out what that check engine light means....giving them a little knowledge before they visit the mechanic. CarMD plugs into the on board diagnostic port...or OBD2 ....found in cars built since 1998. The handheld device then gets plugged into a USB port on your computer. Marketing manager Kristin Brocoff....

"And basically it's going to give you a personal diagnostic report that says what's going on with that vehicle if there's a problem, the most likely fix, the estimated repair costs in your zip code, so that you can make an educated decision about who you want to take it to, how you want to have it repaired. And it really empowers you."

The price...about 99 dollars. You can find more information at CarMD.com. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
