PC Help for Labels and Postage

Techstination feature for Tuesday, November 2, 1999

From those home made jams to envelopes to pay your bills, everything needs a label. Might as well put your PC to work. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. If your handwriting is anything like mine, you're a lot better off letting your computer print out mailing labels and such. You can buy sheets of labels that will work in a standard inkjet printer, but that can be cumbersome if you just want one label at a time. A company called Dymo.... remember those old labelmakers that you'd use to print plastic labels by turning a wheel for each letter and then squeezing.....well today they have a line of LabelWriters that you can leave hooked up to the serial port of your Windows PC. Company chairman Andrew Newmark...

"The Dymo LabelWriter is a small label printer that connects to your PC. . It connects easily to your PC and it holds rolls of labels. The printer is designed to print those one at a time labels that you need. Whether it be a label for an address, for an envelope, a label for a file folder...whether you be labelling video cassettes or floppy disks, all the labelling chores you have in an office, the LabelWriter makes quick work of all of them."

It comes in handy at home today and can even print postage you can now purchase online...

"The LabelWriter is a key part of the whole new Internet postage revolution."

Prices start at under 150 dollars. You can find more information at labelwriter.com.
