Consumers are still buying the latest tech toys...despite the economy. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. Whether it's the latest iPhone or the Pre from Palm....or a flat panel TV...consumer spending on tech toys has not dried up. Especially when it comes to certain product categories. Consumer Electronics Association head Gary Shapiro ...

"Well certainly there's this tremendous move to netbooks, which is basically you take a smaller laptop around with you anywhere without all the bells and whistles. Obviously, video games, they go back and forth with hotness depending on what's out there. But the exercise video games are there. The smartphones, there are so many great announcements. Apple had the field for a while but Samsung is there and Palm jumping in and Blackberry has great things. So there's tremendous competition out there which is beneficial to the consumer."
