A printer that can connect to the Web. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Printers that have built in wireless networking capability have become pretty common....and it's great for sharing a printer with multiple computers in your home or office. Hewlett Packard is using that wireless connection combined with a larger touch screen...in the Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web arriving on the market this fall. R&D program manager Steve Smith...
"This device will enable you to connect to Web content that you want to print quickly and easily. For instance, if you have your PC turned off and you're running out the door, you can touch the Google Maps icon and it will take you to a Google Maps app and you type in the address and it will print out perfectly formatted maps and directions for you."
No computer necessary. HP says as many as ten apps will be built into the printer at launch...and more will be added. The price...about four hundred dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
