Texting for toddlers? I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It is one of the latest electronic educational toys from LeapFrog...and it's called Text & Learn. It's designed to look like an oversized smart phone...with a full QWERTY keyboard. Brand manager Rachel Bautista says there are alphabet games and more...taught by an on screen puppy named Scout...
"There's a map game where kids will navigate Scout throughout a map using the arrow keypads to get to the correct shapes. We also have a pretend browser mode where kids can learn about days of the week by exploring Scout's calendar. But then there's also a pretend text messaging mode where kids can receive text messages from Scout."
Don't blame LeapFrog, kids love to learn by imitating their parents. (sound)
The price...under 25 dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
