No Contract Mobile Broadband

Techstination feature for Wednesday, July 8, 2009

A wireless Internet connection for your laptop, without a contract. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. All of the wireless carriers...like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint.... offer devices you can use with laptops to get on the Internet. But you'll typically be paying 60 dollars a month...and be locked into a contract. Now Virgin Mobile is out with a prepaid mobile Internet connection called Broadband2Go. Spokeswoman Justine Navaja...

"It's a USB device that allows you to get broadband access through your laptop. And in order to use it you can actually do a pay as you go plan. And there are four plans available starting at ten dollars. "

That ten dollars will get you 100 megabytes of mobile data...which expires in ten days. The pay as you go plans from Virgin Mobile may make sense for light usage...but could turn out to be more expensive for heavy use. The USB Broadband2Go modem...is priced at 150 dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more...at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
