Big business in little computers. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. It's no secret that those little netbooks have become the fastest growing category of personal computers. And wireless carriers are seeing them as a big opportunity. AT&T is expanding the line of netbooks it is offering customers for 199 dollars in return for a two year data contract. It will sell models from Dell, Lenovo and Acer. Spokesman Mark Siegel...
"This is discovering a whole new use for wireless ."
Siegel says two data plans are available...
"One would be 40 dollars a month and that would get you 200 megabytes of data. For the vast majority of people that is way more than enough. And you can also get it for 60 dollars a month and that would give you 5 gigabytes of data and that is way, way more than enough."
But those limits could easily be taxed by video streaming...or uploading photos. Competitor Verizon, by the way, is also in the netbook business. You can find us with archives, interviews and more....at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
