Shooting with the new Olympus E-P1. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Digital SLR cameras have been growing in popularity as their prices have come down and their features have grown. But for a lot of folks.. they're just too big to carry around. That's where the new Olympus E-P1 comes in. It's not quite pocket sized....but it is small for a camera with all of the capability...of an SLR...including interchangeable lenses. Product manager Sally Smith Clemens...
"The sensor, the actual image sensor, that part of the camera that collects the image, is the same size as the image sensor in our DSLRs, but the body is about the size of some of the point and shoots that are on the market now. A little bit larger, but not too much."
Image quality is very good and the EP-1...like new micro four-thirds cameras from Panasonic...can also shoot HD video. The lack of a viewfinder takes some getting used to. Pricing...with a lens...is about 900 dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
