Now...Netflix has awarded a million dollar prize after a contest that went on for three years...with the goal being to improve the technology behind those recommendations. The winning team...came from a global group of engineers, statisticians and researchers and says Netflix VP Steve Swayse...it doesn't end there. The company has announced a sequel. "Which will be a similar competition, although a little different, with fixed times for winners to walk away with a million dollars. We'll have a five hundred thousand dollar award given at six months and another five hundred thousand dollars given at eighteen months for the teams to improve upon the recommendation system."
